I dabble in puzzle games as a streamer. To be honest, sometimes I hide from them just because I don’t want to get outwardly frustrated with myself for not getting to a solution quickly or on my own. There’s still a pretty big part of me that’s scared of looking goofy in front of my chat (even though that happens all the time anyway). But when I saw the trailer for Wilmot Works It Out, I knew I wanted to check the game out. Out of the blue, I happened to get an email from the Community Manager over at Finji Co. the folk who published Wilmot Works It Out with a game key and an invitation to check the game out. So, full disclosure, I did receive a free key for the game, but I did not receive payment from the devs or publishing studio to cover the game. And, since playing this game, I’ve found myself covering more and more puzzle games on my channel!
Y’all, this game is so refreshing.
I was really looking forward to a game that would give me a really chill experience where I still felt like I was accomplishing something. And Wilmot really came through for me. In this game, you get puzzles delivered to you as part of your Puzzle Club subscription. This is how I know that Wilmot is built different from me. I am so slow when it comes to building puzzles in real life lol. I tried to get into the hobby during the early COVID years (like a lot of other people, it was wild to see the puzzle section sold out in my area). I don’t think I even completed 1 puzzle before I gave up lol. But there’s still a part of me that wants to try again, I think I have a Zelda and the Wind Waker puzzle in a drawer somewhere in my apartment, maybe it’s time to give it another shot.
Our resident puzzle expert, Wilmot, is out here getting a puzzle regularly delivered to his house to complete. And these puzzles are beautiful, shoutout to Richard Hogg for the design work he did on these puzzles. With each package that Sam, the postwoman delivers, you’ll get a variety of pieces. Sometimes it’ll be all of the pieces for a specific puzzle but as the game progresses, you start to get random pieces for puzzles that you’ll see later. It’s a fun way to keep players guessing about why one of the pieces in the box really does not match at all with the rest of the ones you’ve been using. Yes, I did still try to see if some of them would fit into the current puzzle. They did not lol. There’s a cute story with Sam and Wilmot that plays through the background of the game, but it doesn’t usually have a big effect on the core of putting the puzzles together. I did want the best for the homie Sam, she went through a couple things in the game and it was cool to see how she was still working to take care of herself through it all.

You can also do a little bit of house decorating as you progress through the game, hanging up all of your new puzzles in the rooms in Wilmot’s house and then filling them with furniture and plants to make the space feel more like home. Rooms unlock as you finish the collection of puzzles from each season, which is a cool way of marking progression in the game!
If you’re looking for an afternoon of chill vibes and putting together puzzles, I’d highly recommend Wilmot Works It Out. The music is chill, the puzzles are beautiful, and Sam the postwoman is ready to share her adventures with you! Hollow Ponds, Richard Hogg, and Finji Co. really did a great job with this game. It’s out on Steam and Nintendo Switch and you can learn more about it here: https://wilmotworksitout.com.
Thanks again to the Finji Co. team for the code, I loved sharing it with my community. You can watch me play through the game by clicking the links below!
